Things to do – Stone Mountain ART Station Offers An Array of Programs for Spring and Summer
If you’re looking for place where you can experience all things art, then look no further than the ART Station in the village of Stone Mountain. In addition to an art gallery showcasing their permanent collection and a gallery that exhibits the art of several local artists, it offers a variety of programs for everyone, adults and children alike.
According to a recent press release, “A new exhibit in the Trolley Stop Gallery at ART Station opened on Saturday, March 7. The exhibit, ‘Hometown,’ features work by selected members of Tannery Row Artist Colony (TRAC) in Buford. Patrons are encouraged to also visit the other three galleries in the Village, which will be open and participating in the early evening Art Stroll. The Stroll is free, and visitors who stop by all the galleries may turn in a validated ‘passport’ at the end of the evening, to be eligible for a drawing for door prizes. ‘Hometown’ continues through Sunday, May 3, and will be joined by an exhibit of artwork from DeKalb County Schools (all levels of students, and teachers), in the Main Gallery, from April 2 through May 3.”
The Hound of the Baskervilles, a play adapted by Steven Canny and John Nicholson, will be playing at the ART Station Theatre from April 16-May 3, 2015. This summer, the ART Station will once again be conducting their summer arts camp for youth ages 5-13. The ART Station Summer Arts Camp offers students two weeks of summer camp from June 15 – 26. Full day programs are available for ages 5-8 and 9-13.
Full-day camp is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ART Station was founded in 1986 by David Thomas who is the President and Artistic Director of ART Station. Michael Hildago is the Director of the Development.
